The MARC Board of Directors has selected the following contest categories. MARC encourages each EXTRAVAGANZA attendee to place at least one entry in the contest. MARC would also like to encourage members to place an entry in as many categories as possible to help continue the success of our outstanding contest.

1. Early RCA Radios: Show off your set made prior to 1930. Show off your Radiola.
2. Golden RCA Table Radios: Show one of the table sets made between 1930 and 1942.
3. Golden RCA Console Radios: Display your console set made between 1930 and 1942.
4. RCA Station Equipment: A chance to share your RCA microphone, mixer console, transmitter or other station gear.
5. Signs and Ephemera: Exhibit your signs, promotional material or advertisements. These can be from any era.
6. Post war RCA sets: Show off your RCA set made after 1945. This can be a table set or even a stereo or color TV.
7. Novelties: This category is for novelty sets of any era. These sets can be tube or transistor types.
8. Speakers: This category includes speakers of any era.
9. Transistor Radios: A chance to show off your transistor radio of any manufacturer.
10. My Favorite Set: Show off your personal favorite — most interesting, valuable, rare or whatever radio or television set or set related item.
11. The Open: Any radio or television or related item of any era or manufacturer.

Contest Rules

Best of Show
The Everitt “Abe” Lincoln Best of Show Trophy will be awarded to the best overall contest entry as determined by the judges.

People’s Choice
The Antique Electronic Supply People’s Choice Trophy will be awarded to the entry receiving the most show attendee votes.

Best Restoration
The Chris Haedt Best Restoration trophy will be awarded to the item entered in the contest (in any of the contest categories) that represents the finest restoration as determined by the judges. Photo documentation of the restoration is required for any entry to be eligible for this award.

Chairman’s Trophy
The Chairman’s Trophy will be awarded to the contest entry with the greatest historical, marketing, or technical significance as determined by the Equipment Contest Chairman with the consensus of the judges.

General Awards
The contest judges will award first place trophies along with second and third place ribbons within each contest category.
