EXTRAVAGANZA Contest Rules
Contest Rules
The following is an overview of the contest rules.
- Items, which have previously won an award in a MARC contest within the past year, may not be entered.
- A contestant may enter only one item per category. If a contestant does enter more than one item in a particular category, the judges will select the one with the most merit for consideration.
- Items must be entered in the category most appropriate for the particular item. The judges reserve the right to move an item to the most appropriate category in their opinion if necessary.
- The Judges will consider all entries in a category and will rank them according to Rarity, Condition, Collector Appeal, and supporting Documentation.
NOTES: “Collector Appeal” is based on a comparison between all items entered in each category such that the most desirable item receives the highest rating. The next most desirable would be ranked second and so forth. This score is not affected necessarily by rarity or condition, but is intended to be a measure of other factors such as eye appeal, color, size, or value based upon the assessment of the individual judge.
The Judges will consider rarity and condition in addition to collector appeal and the set with the highest overall rating will receive first place. The second highest rated set will receive second place and the third rated set will receive third. Supporting documentation can be used to help establish the judges’ opinion.
Judges and contest officials may have contest entries but cannot act as judge in the entered category nor attempt to influence judging in that category. MARC takes every precaution to insure impartiality and the rulings of the judges are final.
